Wakefield grandmother caught scrawling anti-Brexit slogans on a wall

Graffiti gran, 71, is caught scrawling anti-Brexit slogans on a school wall says young people have been ‘wronged’ by her generation

A sharply-dressed retiree is responsible for scrawling an anti-Brexit slogan on a wall in West Yorkshire, it has now been revealed.

Retired teacher Hazel Jones, 71, scribbled ‘Brexit is based on lies. Reject it’ on the outside wall of a school field in white chalk. 

Her antics were caught on camera by resident Carla Petts in Wakefield.

Ms Jones told The Times that she did it for her grandchildren who she felt her generation had ‘wronged’.

She said: ‘We all have to do our bit and I think it’s very important that people are made aware of the imminent catastrophe that we will be faced with if Brexit goes through.’ 

The clip shows Ms Jones calmly approaching the wall before defiantly penning the phrase.

The then walks off with her walking stick just as casually as she approached. 

And this is not the first time the grandmother of four has made her views known.

Ms Jones wrote on the wall in white chalk that easily washes off in the rain

After the clip was posted to Facebook, many people came out in support of the grandmother and her defiant stance

The clip shows Ms Jones calmly approaching the wall before defiantly penning the phrase in white chalk. She told The Times that she did it for her grandchildren who she felt her generation had ‘wronged’

She confessed to chalking hundreds of messages and has been doing so since the 2016 EU referendum. 

But she only writes in chalk that washes off easily.

People came out to support Ms Jones on social media.
